Lower Leg Injury – Compensation amounts

How much Injury Compensation could I receive?

When considering the value of injuries suffered as a result of an assault, the CICA will consider the “Tariff of injuries”. This week we again examine how much compensation a Claimant could receive if they suffer a leg injury, though, this time the lower leg.

Lower Leg Injury – claim compensation

Lower Leg Injury – Injury Compensation Amounts

  • Where a Claimant suffers a fracture between the knee and ankle, at the area known as the fibula, the compensation awarded will be £1,000. However if there are continuing symptoms, the award will be £1,800.
  • If there are fractures to both legs here, but with extensive recovery, the compensation awarded will be £1,500. However, if there are still continuing symptoms, the compensation will be £3,500.

Injury Compensation Awards For Tibia (Shin Bone)

  • If a Claimant suffers a fracture to one leg, and there is extensive recovery, the compensation award will be £1,800. However, if there are still ongoing symptoms, the compensation will be £4,600.
  • If the injuries are more severe, with fractures to both legs here, but with extensive recovery, the compensation awarded will be £3,500. However, if there are still continuing symptoms, the compensation could be as high as £11,000.

Injuriy CompensationFor Damage To Ankle

  • If the injury suffered is a fractured ankle or a dislocated ankle, where there is extensive recovery, the compensation awarded will be £2,400. However, if there are continuing symptoms the compensation will be, again, £11,000.
  • If there are instead fractures to both ankles, the compensation awarded will be £6,200 though if there are still ongoing symptoms, the compensation could be as high as £16,500.
  • Lesser injuries to the ankle can also receive compensation, with a sprained ankle receiving £1,000 and the sprain of both ankles receiving the amount of £1,800

Compensation For Ligament & Tendon Damage

  • The final leg injury that we are examining this week is where there has been damage to tendons, ligaments or cartilage. Where this happens to one leg, and is fairly minor, and there is extensive recovery, the compensation that will be received will be £1,500.
  • If instead the minor injury is to both legs, this will of course be higher, being £3,500.
  • Where the injury to one leg is more moderate than minor, the compensation awarded will be £3,500.

Where the moderate tendon, ligament or cartilage damage is to both legs, but there is extensive recovery, the compensation awarded will be £2,400. Though if there are still ongoing symptoms, this could be much higher, being £11,000.

  • Finally, if the injury is classed as severe, being to one leg, the compensation received will be £1,500, if there are still continuing symptoms this will be £6,200
  • If the severe injury is doubly disabling, being to both legs, but with extensive recovery, the compensation awarded will be £4,600.
  • If though there are still continuing symptoms, this could be as high as £16,500.
